The Brooklyn Bridge is a 6,016 foot long, 272 foot tall suspension bridge built between 1870 and 1883 to connect Brooklyn and Manhattan. It took 13 years to build at a cost of $15,000,000. The bridge was needed to more easily transport people between the two land masses, as it provided an alternative to ferries.
